ALMP’s Sustainable Employment Reintegration of Repatriated Citizens Project
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MLSW) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) held the first joint meeting to mark the commencement of the Sustainable Employment Reintegration Project.
The meeting took place today, Wednesday 7 March, at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Pristina, with representatives from partner Ministries, employment offices and relevant delegates from municipal offices for community affairs and repatriated citizens.
The main goals of the project are to assist recently repatriated Kosovans gain the skills and training they need to (re)enter the local labour market, while supporting employers and enterprises to connect with the right workforce.
Mr. Artan Duraku, representative from MIA, highlighted the importance of reintegrating readmitted persons in the process of Visa Liberalisation; "It is the responsibility of Kosovo Institutions and Kosovar society to make joint efforts in this process". Mr Hafiz Leka, representative from MLSW, once again reiterated the readiness of the Public Employment Services to engage their full capacity in supporting the implementation of this project.
UNDP, through its Active Labour Market Programme (ALMP), will assist the Ministries in their efforts to reintegrate readmitted persons in the labour market utilising the existing project platform; "We look forward to a successful and cooperative collaboration during the implementation of this crucial component of the Action Plan" - concluded Ms. Yllka Gerdovci, UNDP ALMP Project Manager.
This initial briefing will be preceded by corresponding meetings formulated at regional level involving representatives from all municipalities in Kosovo.
